The advert uses a strong central image and places the WaterAid branding strikingly within the advertisement. The visual focus draws the audience towards the human impact of the issue rather than presenting lots of complicated information. They added the sad child to in a way guilt trip the viewer into donating.
This is an example of imagery, emotive representation. I think it uses imagery because the text “dig toilets not graves” shows that so many kids are dying from lack of water/dehydration. I think the advert also uses anchorage on the text, to make the reader specifically think about the sad reality of some of these children. We can see the sad child which can make us realise they don't always have a good life.
The imagery is important because charity ads often need to make an audience care about an issue that may feel unrelatable or distant from their lives. By focusing attention on people on the people who cant always access water, water aid makes the issue feel more personal. The audience is encouraged to sympathise for those struggling. This can make the audience more likely to remember the advert
The advert uses football to create excitement and national pride as it is the euros final and the way england performed throughout the tournament they had a strong chance of winning. They wanted people who used ee as a service provider to have free date for 12 hours as a sign of support of the team.
The campaign focuses on the England Lionesses the day they took on Germany in the 2022 Euros final. EE adds the text "we've got your back”, which i can infer is about supporting the teams and the free data.and encourages fans to stay connected during the match by having free data between midday and midnight.
This advertisement uses sports as its main focal point, as it is all connected to football. It also uses collective identity as most people living in England will support the England team which brings a sense of togetherness to the community of EE users.
The representation of the Lionesses creates a sense of national pride. The audience is encouraged to see themselves as part of a wider community of England supporters, almost as a team. The football imagery is likely to generate excitement because the advert is connected to a major sport event in England. This helps EE associate its brand with the positive emotions surrounding the Lionesses as loads of people follow football in England.
